In January 2017, John Harris, Assistant Professor of Regional and City Planning in The University of Oklahoma College of Architecture, and Lupe Davidson, Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program in the College of Arts and Sciences, traveled to Uganda with a group of OU students. There, they facilitated a photovoice project with 13 members of the Gulu affiliate of the Women’s Advocacy Network, a group of women who were abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army during the decades long insurgency in northern Uganda. During the project, the women went out into their communities to take pictures of their everyday realities. Afterwards, they convened so they could present their photos to the group and tell their stories. An online exhibition of this work is now available.
