OU Beginning Piano Program
For: Students in Kindergarten to 2nd Grade

Where: Catlett Music Center, OU Campus

Children experience a dynamic introduction to piano playing through a year-long comprehensive curriculum, taught by OU students and faculty. The program includes weekly group classes and one-on-one lessons to explore all aspects of keyboarding including music fundamentals, creativity, performance, listening, and collaboration. Children will learn through activities and games in a state-of-the-art group piano classroom, and demonstrate their progress in showcase recitals.
Number of Lessons/Classes: 26 in the academic year
Format and time: Group classes will occur at 5:00-5:30pm on Mondays, with individual lessons occurring at 4:30 or 5:30 for 30 minutes.
Other important information:
- Parent/guardian attendance is required in all private lessons.
- Need-based scholarships are available.
- A piano is required at home for practice in between lessons. An acoustic piano is recommended. A high-quality digital piano (88 weighted keys, on a stand, with a bench) is also a suitable alternative.
- Each enrollment will be confirmed through an in-person interview to ensure readiness of the child.
