Braden Labenz, M.S. Civil Engineering, 2024
University of Oklahoma College of Engineering alumnus Braden Labenz has been selected as one of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) 2026 New Faces of Civil Engineering. The national honor recognizes 10 engineers under the age of 30 who demonstrate outstanding leadership, professional excellence and a strong commitment to ASCE’s core values.
Presented each year during Engineers Week (E-Week), the award highlights emerging civil engineering leaders who are making a meaningful impact on the profession. Each February, ASCE honors a select group of young civil engineers whose accomplishments and expertise are helping people, improving communities and advancing the field. The honorees represent both students and early-career professionals under the age of 30 who demonstrate exceptional talent and a commitment to future excellence.

Labenz earned his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from OU’s online program in 2024. Since graduating, he has continued to build his career and contribute to the field. Labenz said:
“OU’s online M.S. in Civil Engineering allowed me to deepen my technical skills while continuing to serve my community full-time. The evening format made it possible to balance real project responsibilities with rigorous coursework, and the faculty treated working professionals as colleagues who were there to genuinely grow. I’m grateful that OU built a program that allowed me to advance my education and refine my leadership skills without stepping away from my career.”
