MISSION Statement

Through a community of scholars committed to excellence in research and teaching, the mission of CEES is to provide our students with the technical education and critical thinking skills needed to lead the country in addressing the complex infrastructure and environmental problems facing today’s society.

ABET Accredited

The Bachelor of Science programs in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Architectural Engineering at CEES are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (https://www.abet.org). These programs meet the General Criteria as well as the Civil and Similarly Named Program Criteria established by ABET.

Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
Program Educational Objectives are broad statements that describe what CEES graduates are expected to achieve within a few years of graduation. These objectives are designed to meet the needs of CEES constituencies, including alumni, industry partners, and government agencies. The PEOs focus on preparing well-trained engineers who are equipped for professional success and long-term career advancement.

CEES POE's Include

  1. CEES graduates will have embarked on successful careers in the development, implementation, and management of architectural, civil, or environmental engineering systems.
  2. CEES graduates will advance in their careers and continue their professional development through continuing education and lifelong learning.

Student Outcomes
Student outcomes describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time they graduate. These outcomes ensure that graduates are prepared to enter the professional world with the necessary knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding.

CEES Students Will Demonstrate:

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs, considering public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, considering the global, economic, environmental, and societal impacts of engineering solutions.
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team, providing leadership, creating a collaborative and inclusive environment, setting goals, planning tasks, and achieving objectives.
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
