Kari Hampton.

MLIS Student Kari Hampton is in her final semester of library school, and as she reflects on her journey, she is proud of how far she’s come. In June of this past summer, she attended the ALA conference in Chicago and had a great time exploring the city, resources, and sessions. She plans to stay involved with ALA and participate in any conferences she can. She was hired as a school librarian at Hawthorne Elementary School in Tulsa! They had been without a librarian for the past year, so it was a blessing that she was hired.

She feels it is her duty to bring the passion of the library back to the students.  She hopes to achieve this goal and more. So far in TPS, she attended a small conference on the 17th in the area, the ‘Building Bridges Librarianship Conference’, held in the McFarlin Library at the University of Tulsa. She has networked with other School and Public Librarians and made great connections. So far, it has been amazing! Her first day of school was last week, and the library looks great! Ms. Hampton is very thankful for all the help and encouragement that her advisors and the SLIS community have given her.

Kari is excited for what this new semester will bring and is really looking forward to that finish line. Congratulations Kari!
