After graduating from the University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies with her MLIS, successfully passing the Library Media Specialist certification exam, and completing the program while working full time, Mrs. Brittany Pendley-Griffin accepted a position as Library Media Specialist at Cross Timbers Elementary in Edmond Public Schools. Mrs. Pendley-Griffin began the MLIS during her fourth year as a special education teacher and completed the program while continuing to teach full-time. After six years in special education, Mrs. Pendley-Griffin is now transitioning into school librarianship.

During her time in the OU SLIS program, she completed an internship with Pioneer Library System and engaged in coursework and professional experiences that helped her grow in youth services, community programming, and collection development. This experience helped prepare her for this next step and reinforced her interest in creating inclusive and engaging library spaces for students. This experience reflects the mission of the University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies, which prepares professionals who support access to information, learning, and community engagement. For her, that mission connects directly to her goal of creating library spaces where all students feel supported and able to grow. This transition means a lot because it reflects a long-term goal of moving into school librarianship while continuing to support students in meaningful and accessible ways. She is excited to begin this next chapter with Edmond Public Schools.
