Lupita Gonzalez with Dr. June Abbas receiving the 2025 Student Paper Award.

This year’s student paper award winner is current MLIS student Lupita Gonzalez. Lupita plans to graduate with her MLIS degree and Graduate Certificate in Digital Humanities in Spring 2025.

Jackie Kropp, who is the committee chair for the Alumni awards committee, says "This paper stood out to the committee because it is well-written, timely, and is from an under-researched area of study. This paper shows the powerful work and study in which our SLIS students are currently involved and how they are changing the way we look at and interact with information."

The paper is titled "Information Behavior of Undocumented Latino/a/x Immigrants in the United States" by Lupita Gonzalez. She wrote this paper for 5053 Information Seeking and Use with Dr. Liu.
