On April 11th, the Shyam Dev Patwardhan Department of Philosophy hosted a panel discussion titled "What can I do with Philosophy?: A Conversation with Alumni on Non-academic Jobs, Career Paths, and the Value of a Philosophical Background."
Four distigushed Philosophy alumni participated in the panel:
Nathan Boren, MD, Goddard Health Center;
Kelly Epley, Coder and Analyst, U.S. Internal Revenue Service;
Wyatt Hockmeyer, President & CEO of Lhotse Management Solutions; and
James Williams, English Teacher, Oklahoma City Public Schools.
The event was hosted by PhD candidate Violet Victoria.
Topics included the value of philosophy in the job market, how to talk about philosophy in professional settings, and how to approach indecision in choosing a career path.
