Every Fall semester, CSA hosts our annual GIS Day at OU - an event geared toward celebrating students and professionals in the geospatial community. The event is open to the public, so whether you are a member of the OU community or just interested to learn more about how geospatial technology is being used by students and professionals in our area, please join us in celebrating GIS Day at OU every November! General attendance does not require registration, however if you would like to participate in the student Poster and StoryMaps Competition or participate as an exhibitor, please contact Dr. Daniela Spade to learn more.
In 2025, GIS Day at OU took place place on November 19 at the Jim Thorpe Multicultural Center. The event featured the 13th annual student Poster and StoryMaps Competition, an exposition designed to help students foster their professional development by presenting their research to both faculty and GIS professionals. Also featured were GIS exhibitors from the OKC metro area as well as academic departments from OU.

The student poster competition is the cornerstone of GIS Day at OU. The competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students from OU and other universities in the region! If you are a student and have research to showcase with any type of spatial or GIS/remote sensing focus, you are qualified to participate!
GIS Day at OU hosts professionals from across the state, providing a venue for our students to become familiarized with how GIS is used beyond the academic setting. If you would like to register a booth to represent your GIS organization, you will be in the company of dozens of other GIS professionals from academic, state, and private industries.
The Award Ceremony recognizes all participating students for their hard work and participation in the event. The Poster and StoryMaps Competition features judges from departments across OU's campus and categorizes participants by undergraduate and graduate level. Participating students from each category are eligible to win cash prizes ranging from $600 to $1000!
