During my college search, I hoped to find a place where I could grow in my dream of becoming an actor while also having a traditional, fun college experience! I was immediately drawn to the incredible football program, student life, and Greek life organizations. Additionally, throughout my application process, numerous admissions counselors and faculty members were available and excited to talk to me and answer questions. All of these factors led me to seeing OU as the only choice for me.

OU was the first place that welcomed me with open arms. I could be my authentic self. To me, the abundance of leadership opportunities, scholarships and financial resources, and community is what makes the University of Oklahoma home. From academic advisors to residential study nights to Camp Crimson, OU truly cares about you. Now, as an OU student, it is obvious to me that the university's immersive environment cultivates intellectual curiosity and lifetime learning. Recognizing the importance of integrity as well as accountability will not only fuel my academic success and extracurricular endeavors, but it also propels me toward a future that is as wide-reaching as OU.

Despite visiting schools across the nation, I always knew I wanted to go to OU. The culture surrounding every inch of campus is palpable, and I can feel the excitement and the energy all around. The community I was told about sounded like something I just had to be a part of, and I felt even more connected once I arrived on campus. There is something for everyone to find their place in, and it is immediately apparent how much the OU community wants you to be a part of it.

In 2019, I toured OU with my cross country team and coach, where I saw how beautiful the campus was and how much OU had to offer. After my tour, my coach set up a Q&A panel with staff from Gaylord College. We asked them about all things Gaylord, college, and the University of Oklahoma. At the end, one of the professors approached me, gave her business card, and told me to connect with her. I called, and she solidified my decision. The intentionality shown to me in Gaylord and at OU is one of the many reasons I love calling OU “home.” At OU, I’m not treated like a number or even like a student. I’m treated like a real person with experiences, feelings, and a future. The feeling I had before arriving at OU has never stopped and only continues to grow during my time here.
