For more than 25 years, OU has welcomed new students with Camp Crimson, OU's five-day-long orientation experience. This year, Camp Crimson's schedule introduced exciting new events, like the first-ever Sovalpalooza, an involvement fair on the South Oval that brought together over 250 student organizations, 50 local businesses and non-profits, live music, food trucks, mini golf, and a silent disco party in front of the Bizzell Memorial Library. On top of that, the tradition of Camp Games was reimagined, allowing campers to earn points through competitions that happened throughout the week!
During Camp Crimson, campers learn to get comfortable and have fun with Student Group Leaders. On a big campus like OU, it can be easy to feel like you have to put on a persona, but through events like Retro Night, Silent Disco, and Camp Games, students realize they can be themselves and they are where they belong. At OU, students are surrounded by a support system and people who cheer them on and that path to finding support begins at Camp Crimson.

Campers go through a transformation during their five days with Camp Crimson. At their first Small Group meeting and opening session, there is a lot of energy and excitement, but you can tell that the campers don't quite feel comfortable interacting with each other individually and are still trying to find where they fit. By the end of Camp Crimson, we see campers who walk out of closing session confident about heading into the semester. They've already established a solid network of support, have begun to identify the next steps to take on their OU journey, have found friends who can help them, and discovered the confidence to take action.
