Mentor Applications for 2025-2026 Are Now Open!

Apply Here!

What to Expect

As an EP Mentor, you will cultivate a relationship with your protégés for their first semester as an OU Engineer. Mentors will lead mentoring groups, including one or more mentors and a group of protégés.

Mentoring groups will meet weekly to share resources, collaboratively overcome challenges, and create opportunities for academic and personal development throughout the protégés’ first semester. Mentors will also create opportunities for protégés to engage with the broader OU Engineering community, featuring involvement in student organizations, college programs, and other extracurricular events.

Mentors should expect to budget between 5-6 hours per week to complete EP Mentoring Network activities. This role has a minimum one-semester commitment; opportunities to continue service in the role for the full academic year will exist for interested mentors and mentoring groups.

The Application Process

Prospective mentors are selected through a competitive application process, including a short online application, in-person interview with a program faculty or staff member, and an academic reference.

Expectations

  • Commit to facilitating a positive learning and mentoring environment for protégés for a minimum of the students' first semester.
  • Coordinate weekly mentoring group discussion meetings and social/student organization engagement oppotunities.
  • Program staff will enroll all mentors selected for the program in the EP Mentors training course (ENGR 1401) for the fall semester. This course is a one credit hour class, allowing program participation to be reflected on the academic transcript. Course fees associated with ENGR 1401 enrollment are reimbursed to the student through a fee waiver paid directly to the mentor’s bursar account each fall semester.

Eligibility

  • Be a current student in good standing, actively pursuing an undergraduate degree program in the Gallogly College of Engineering.
  • Maintain a 2.85 GPA.

Student Advisory Board

The Engineering Pathways Mentoring Network is recruiting its first Student Advisory board for the 2025-2026 academic year. Advisory board members will play a pivotal role in:

  • Planning program-wide networking events during the fall and spring semesters,
  • Liasing between program faculty, staff, and the mentoring community,
  • Representing the EP Mentoring Network at campus- and college- wide events, and
  • Supporting mentor recruitment activites during the spring semester.

Advisory board members will be expected to participate in monthly board meetings during the spring and  summer (virtually).

Indicate your interest in serving on the 2025-2026 Student Advisory Board in your EP Mentors Application
