Internet Navigator...  A Simplified Guide to Netscape GOLD

Adding Images to the WebPage

Netcape will let you "insert" images in your Web Pages.

Netscape will allow you to have two types of Image Formats in your Web Pages (without "special" plug-ins).

The question is..., where do you "get" images to put in your Web Pages. The answer is..., any software that will let you "image capture" (from video tape), or any "drawing programs" that will let you create images from scratch. There is a ton of "clip-art" available at "many" retail stores. Use what ever images that appeal to you (initially)..., until you get control of image placement and sizing.

To Insert an Image in your Web Page...,

From the Netscape Browser Toolbar...,
Choose Insert, then Image.

Netscape Editor Insert Image Drop Down Menu

The Image Properties Dialog Box will "pop-up".

Choose Browse..., beside the Image file name,  Field

Netscape Editor Image Properties Dialog Box (empty)

The Select Image File Dialog Box will appear...,

Netscape Editor Select Image File Dialog Box

Choose the Image file (in your machine) you want in your Web Page!

The Image Properties Dialog Box will "reappear".

Netscape Editor Properties Dialog Box

In the Alternative representations (optional) Field..., you can create an appropriate "image title" (this title is displayed while Netcape is waiting to "load" the Image).

In the Space around image, Field you can elect to have more space around your Image or put a Solid Border around the Image (you select "how big the border will be" by specifying the number of pixels wide). Experiment with these options.

For Practice..., we suggest you use "simple images" you find on the Internet. That is..., until you are able to "create" your own images. Remember, some information (images) are protected by "strict penalties" under American laws!
What you are "actually doing" is inserting the "place" where your image will be "located" in your Web Page..., and the image is actually placed "in the same folder" (on the OU Server). You view the image and the Web Page together, but the image file can also be seen "outside" the page by just "opening" the image with you Netscape Browser.
