Career Readiness in the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences

In the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences, it is important to us that our students feel prepared for their post-graduation journey. We offer a variety of in-house resources for our students to utilize while they are here. This includes the services offered by the Student Success Center (workshops, one-on-one meetings with the director, events, etc.) and our CAS 3091 - Career Planning for Arts and Sciences Students course.

CAS - 3091 is a 1 credit hour course that is offered multiple times throughout the academic year; fall, spring, and sometimes summer. The course is offered in online and in-person modalities. The course objective is to impower students in the College of Arts and Sciences to determine personal career goals, explore career opportunities beyond graduation, develop a strategy for the job search process, and improve job search techniques as life-long resource tools. This is accomplished by bringing the career readiness resources to the students in the classroom setting, i.e. how to use Handshake, how to create an elevator pitch, how to properly format a resume and cover letter, how to effectively apply for jobs, etc. Students are encouraged to speak with their advisor if they are interested in taking this course.
