Austin McCoy is an Instructor and Field Liaison for the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work at the University of Oklahoma on the Tulsa campus. A licensed clinical social worker, Austin has dedicated his career to child and adolescent mental health, focusing on supporting undergraduate and graduate students within school based settings. Over the past ten years, he has worked closely with elementary students and their families, addressing a range of mental health, behavioral health, and social-emotional needs, as well as worked with OU students helping to prepare them to serve school based students.
Austin's professional journey includes serving as a Therapist for Dayspring Community Services, embedded in Walt Whitman Elementary, and as a Social Services Specialist for Tulsa Public Schools at Kendall Whittier Elementary. Since joining the University of Oklahoma in January 2021, Austin has taken on roles as a Liaison and Field Education Coordinator, ensuring that social work students receive a high-quality field education experience.
In addition to his professional work, Austin and his wife are former foster parents for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and are proud adoptive parents of five children. His research interests lie in school-based social work and clinical supervision. As a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in Oklahoma and an interagency supervisor since 2022, Austin continues to contribute to the development and support of future social workers.
