Biography
Cyrus is an associate professor with a focus on appiled quantitative methods and the sociology of religion. His research has appeared (will appear) in The American Sociological Review, Journal of Sociological Methods & Research, Social Forces, Social Science Research, Social Science Quarterly, Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Sociology of Religion, Review of Religious Research, Journal of Sex Research, and The American Sociologist. In addition, some of this research has received media coverage from Time Magazine, National Public Radio's Hidden Brain Podcast, Science Magazine, The Huffington Post, Christianity Today, The Christian Century, Christian Post, and the Sociology of Religion Podcast.
In 2020, Cyrus’s research and teaching were acknowledged with the Irene Rothbaum Award for Outstanding Assistant Professor. The Rothbaum award is presented annually to an assistant professor in OU's College of Arts and Sciences in recognition of one's "dedication, effectiveness, and the ability to inspire students to high levels of achievement" as well as outstanding progress in their own scholarly research.
Cyrus also coordinates the Advanced Quantitative Methods Working Group (ADQUANT) and is the faculty advisor for the Dialogues of Contemporary Sociology Workshop (DOCS). For more information, see his website: www.cyrus-schleifer.com.
