Dr. Buffy Edwards is an enthusiastic Lecturer and Internship Documentation Coordinator with experience working in different library settings, including 30 years in school librarianship. Earning both her degrees at the University of Oklahoma - Master of Library and Information Studies at SLIS (1989) and Ph.D. in Instructional Psychology and Technology (2008) - she is proud to be a Sooner. She is honored to have led the first-ever SLIS study abroad OU in Italy: Libraries, Archives, and Museums in 2023 and is currently planning the 2024 study abroad class.
Buffy is an active professional serving on the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) School Library Research Editorial Board, presenting at state, national, and international conferences, and continued membership in professional organizations. Dr. Edwards has extensive teaching experience in Pre-K - 20 settings, a strong background in children and youth services, and her research interests are motivation and reading, equitable access to library resources, the influence of trained, professional librarians on student learning, and the quality of school libraries.
