Heather Arnett, a current MA Museum Studies (MAMS) student, will present her poster Museums in the Margins: Engaging Adults Through Art and Literature at the 2026 American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Annual Meeting & MuseumExpo in Philadelphia.
The project, originally developed in MST 5313 Museum Education with Dr. Harris, explores how museums can engage adult learners through structured book club programming that pairs contemporary literature with artworks from the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art collection. Grounded in adult learning theory, transformative learning, and object-based dialogue, the project examines how museums can foster reflection and multimodal meaning-making through interdisciplinary programming.
