The University of Oklahoma’s Institute for Community and Society Transformation (ICAST) has selected SLIS PhD student Ziyang Xu as a recipient of the 2026 Graduate Student Researcher Scholarship.
Ziyang’s research focuses on bias in large language models (LLMs) and its impact on human decision-making. The project examines how AI systems may mirror or amplify common cognitive biases, such as anchoring and confirmation bias, which can affect the reliability of human-AI collaboration in everyday contexts. Supported by the ICAST award, this project will contribute to a better understanding of fairness and reliability in AI-assisted decision-making and support ongoing efforts to develop more trustworthy AI systems.
