ASIS&T 2025 Annual Meeting, Washington, November 14 to 18th.

The School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Oklahoma will be represented at ASIS&T. Stop by and engage with our faculty and students.

Ziyang Xu, doctoral student in SLIS, will attend the SIG-AI Symposium on Friday, November 14, where he will discuss his work-in-progress project "Responsible AI Integration in Research: Exploring Researchers’ Information Behaviors and Ethical Decision-Making."

Ziyang will also present his paper titled "Disciplinary Diversity in Academic AI Adoption: A Comparative Analysis of AI Tool Usage Declarations Across Scientific Fields" on Monday, November 17, 2025 11:00-12:30 in Potomac II.

Xue Pan will be participating in the Doctoral Colloquium on November 15 to discuss her dissertation on international students’ mental health information behaviors. At the President's Reception and Poster Session on November 17, 2025 from 5:45-7:15pm in Independence A/B.

Xue will also be presenting the poster “Hearing Refugee Voices: Preliminary Findings on Trauma-Informed Refugee Services in Public Libraries,” a project in collaboration with Dr. June Abbas and Chie Noyori Corbett, which shows preliminary findings from a national study exploring how U.S. public libraries support refugees through trauma-informed care.

 

For the Virtual Poster Session, Xue will also present the poster “Navigating Health Information Poverty: International Students’ Challenges and Strategies,” which highlights the use of Chatman’s Information Poverty Theory in examining international students’ health information poverty during the Virtual Conference on December 12, 2025.

Dr. Yong Ju Jung, with collaborators, Dr. Moses Munyao,  and Dr. June Abbas will present their short paper, "Design and strategies of public library makerspaces for youth with disabilities: Collective case study" presenting their findings from an IMLS sponsored project on Monday, November 17, 2025 11:00-12:30 in Potomac VI.

Dr. Yong Ju Jung, Dr. Jiqun Liu, and doctoral students Harun Karahan and Mahdieh Nazari will present their poster "Empowering children’s maker-based STEM learning through Generative AI in libraries." during the President's Reception and Poster Session on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 5:45-7:15pm in Independence A/B.
