Endersby Presents on Museum Property Acts

Dr. Linda Endersby presents at multiple conferences with her expertise on Museum Property Acts

November 14, 2025
Dr. Linda Endersby presents at the Missouri Association for Museums and Archives.

Dr. Linda Endersby was invited to speak at the Missouri Association for Museums and Archives annual conference in Fulton, Missouri, October 17-18. Her talk, "Case for Change," was a kickoff to Missouri's effort to update their museum property act. Museum property acts across the region and the nation have been a research area for Dr. Endersby for many years. She has made several presentations on and published about these acts that allow museums to assert title to items in their collections to which they do not have title through other means. Recent efforts across the nation to update these state laws are to update laws that, in most cases, were enacted in the 1990s when newspapers were a major means of communication. These laws have become a burden to museums in most states.

Dr. Endersby put her research into action when she worked with the Nebraska Museums Association to update Nebraska's act in 2024. She will provide ongoing expertise to the Missouri Association for Museums and Archives as they proceed through the legislative process.
