Amanda Kordeliski has been elected as the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) President for 2025-2026. Amanda serves as the director of libraries and instructional technology for Norman Public Schools and has remained an active member of the SLIS community since graduating in 2010. She resides on the SLIS School Library Advisory Board and was named the SLIS Outstanding Alumni in 2022, and served on the SLIS Alumni Advisory Board from 2019-2022.
"Thank you to all the school librarians who voted and participated in the recent ALA and AASL elections," said Kordeliski upon learning of the results. "Elections of our member leaders is such an important part of our association and I extend a deep thank you to all those willing to stand for election and everyone who used their vote as their voice for our association. I am honored beyond measure to be elected as AASL President-Elect and look forward to working within the AASL community to advocate for all school librarians and school libraries across the country. As a division of the American Library Association, AASL works collaboratively within the greater ALA organization and library ecosystem to increase understanding and promotion of the integral role of school librarians and school libraries for all learners."
Amanda is involved in the Oklahoma Library Association and dedicates her time to the advocacy committee, serving as chair in 2021-2022. Within the American Library Association (ALA), Amanda serves on the American Association of School Librarians board as a director-at-large and works extensively with the Public Policy and Advocacy office as a member of the PolicyCorps advisory board. She is a member of cohort III within PolicyCorps and is part of the cadre for United Against Book Bans. During her leadership tenure within Oklahoma School Librarians (OKSL), the division successfully won the ABC-CLIO leadership development grant for a partnership program with Oklahoma Library and Information Studies Student Association (OLISSA) and SLIS to begin the OU SLIS Virtual Summer Institutes: Developing Responsive Library and Information Technology Leaders.
