Graduate Students Scholarships

If you are an graduate student who will be enrolled at OU next fall, you can apply for SBS scholarships. Go to https://ou.edu/sfc/scholarships/cash. 

Applications close on February 1 of each year. Scholarship selection is by the SBS scholarship committee. For further information contact the department at 405-325-4321.

SBS Scholarship Committee solicits applications by Feb. 1st each academic year by applying through the OU Cash System.

SBS Scholarship Committee reviews applications final decisions made by April 15th each academic year.

Scholarship funds are dispersed as scholarship checks to graduate students.

BIO (only Biology Degree program), MBIO (only Microbiology Degree program), MPBIO (Microbiology & Plant Biology Degree program), SBS (all Graduate Degree programs).


Scholarship Opportunities


Scholarships Available (Submit a proposal & Personal Statement - Financial Need Statement)

Carpenter Scholarship (SBS)

  • Graduate students addressing natural history, ecology, animal behavior and/or conservation are eligible to apply.

M. Blanch Adams & M. Frances Adams Scholarship (SBS)

  • Graduate students who do not have full summer support through either an RA or TA are eligible to apply.

Timmons Scholarship (SBS)

  • Graduate students who do not have full summer support through either an RA or TA are eligible to apply.

George Lynn & Cleo Cross Endowed Scholarship (MPBIO)

  • Fulltime graduate student majoring in PBIO or MBIO; GPA of at least 3.0.

Non-CASH System Graduate Scholarships

Hills Scholarship (SBS)

  • Support School of Biological Sciences graduate student research activities or professional development. Students submit a short proposal (one page or less) describing the need for the funds and a short, itemized budget.  

OU Bio Station Scholarship (SBS)

  • Offers graduate fellowships for summer research at Bio Station.

George Sutton Scholarship (SBS) 

  • Graduate students of ornithology; Scholarship amounts depend on the quality and complexity of the proposed activities.
