A native of the great state of Oklahoma, Sidney T. Ellington returned to his home state bringing almost four decades of experience in military, education, and nonprofit service to the Department of Political Science.  He currently serves as a Professor of Practice in the field of nonprofit management.  His research and teaching interests span the fields of counterinsurgency, small wars, military policy, leadership, education policy, and nonprofit management.  

In addition to teaching classes in various aspects of nonprofit work, Dr. Ellington's current work centers on increasing the opportunity for paid internships for students pursuing degrees in nonprofit management and toward further developing cooperative engagement and partnerships with Oklahoma's nonprofit community.  He is a faculty advisor for the Grant Writer's Association as well as The Oklahoma Group.  

Dr. Ellington's published work has appeared in Navy Times, Defense & Foreign Affairs, Stars and Stripes, On The Move, Public Integrity, and Airspace and Power Journal.  He is also the recipient of the 2016 American Legion's National Education Award.  

Ellington holds a Ph.D. from the University of Okahoma, and a Master's Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School.
