M.S. Western Illinois University (2024)
Hello there! I'm Amisha Rane! I'm an astrophysicist broadly interested in how gas flows through the universe. During my Master's at Western Illinois University, I analyzed and modeled methanol spectral lines toward ionized jet candidates in high-mass star-forming regions. Now, as a PhD student at the University of Oklahoma, I’m expanding my focus to much larger scales—I work with Dr. Nielsen to study the circumgalactic medium (CGM) to understand the baryon cycle. By combining spatially resolved emission maps with high-resolution absorption spectra, I map gas kinematics and model accelerating galactic outflows to catch this cosmic recycling process in action!
When I'm not doing research, I try to hit the gym or go for a swim every day. I also absolutely love dancing and listening to good music—it’s my go-to way to unwind and reset.
