Your donations to our General Fund account are used to support critical departmental activities such as physics and astronomy conferences held on the OU campus, high profile colloquium speakers, outreach, alumni reunions, faculty and student research, postdoctoral fellows, graduate research assistants, and newsletter publication.
The 'Make a Gift' link below will connect you to the OU Foundation where you can make an online donation.
Endowments: An endowment leaves the principal donation intact, with only the earnings (typically 4-5%/year) from the investment spent for the purpose designated by the donor. Please consider creating a Research Endowment Fund, a Student Endowment Fund or an Endowed Chair Fund.
Matching Gifts: Many employers will match your donation to our department which will maximize your gift. Please consider asking your employer to match your gift to the Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy.
Memorial Gifts: Do you have a special friend, loved one or mentor that you want to memorialize through a gift to our department?
Bequests, Charitable Trusts, and Estate Gifts: Planned giving options include bequests, charitable remainder trusts, real estate, and life insurance are excellent ways to give.
For a full description and instructions on how to give in this fashion, please contact our chair, Prof. Phillip Gutierrez, directly at (405) 325-3961.
The principal in all Endowment Funds generates interest and the department uses the interest to support the research and educational activities as specified above. If expendable interest accumulates in a fund the department chair will move the excess expendable to the principal. The OU Foundation has professional investors and audits the funds regularly.
