Public Health Degree Description

This degree is a good choice for students who know they want to pursue a career in public health. This degree offers opportunities to go directly into the workforce after graduation. In addition to taking classes on the Norman campus, students who pursue this major will take classes their final spring semester at the Hudson College of Public Health in Oklahoma City (approximately 20 miles north of Norman).

Students acquire expertise in assessing the local public health system, enhancing professional growth, and gaining hands-on experience through a real-world practicum. OUHS College of Public Health Courses: Environmental Health Public Health Capstone; Cumulative/Experiential Learning-practicum experience requiring 120 contact hours working at a public health organization. To be eligible for the BPH major, students need: 60 hours completed with junior standing; Completion of all major coursework with a "C" or higher; Minimum 3.25 GPA in OU Retention and Combined Retention.
