Aya Okada received an M.A. degree in Second Language Acquisition from Purdue University. In 2016, she joined the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at University of Oklahoma as a Japanese language instructor. Prior to coming to OU, she taught different levels of Japanese courses at various institutions such as Washington & Lee University, the Middlebury College Summer Language Program, and Purdue University.
Previously, she has taught business Japanese to groups of prospective employees in Japanese companies such as Rakuten and Yamaha Motors. Through instructing in those environments, she gained experience teaching Japanese to business people and experience in the preparation for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
She is also certified by ACTFL as an Oral Proficiency Interview tester for the Japanese language.
