French Graduate Program Application

1. Submit these materials directly to the Office of Admissions and Records:
— Complete a General OU Application and submit it directly to the Office of Admissions and Records. International students complete a different OU Application and also submit it directly to the Office of Admissions and Records. 2. Submit these materials directly to the Graduate College
— Three letters of recommendation using the linked recommendation forms.

— Narrative statement of intent between 250 and 500 words written in French. It must describe the applicant's accomplishments and plans for the future. The statement serves to assess whether your goals are in line with those of the program and to assess your ability to write in the foreign language.
— Application for Graduate Teaching Assistantship. This step is necessary only if you are interested in a Graduate Teaching Assistantship or a Fellowship. Click here for more information on these awards.
— Writing sample in French: M.A. applicants submit one writing sample in French of a minimum of 5 pages, Ph.D. applicants submit two writing samples in French of a minimum of 10 pages each. These should be on a literary topic.
— One three-minute recording in French on the topic of your choice. This is required only of non-native speakers of French. Cassette, CD, or computer audio file.
Application Deadlines:
- February 1 for Fall admission
- October 1 for Spring admission
