The Human Relations program will be recognized for excellence in education and research, promoting social justice, service, and scholarship for the betterment of society.
Greetings, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review the Human Relations degree. We recognize that there are so many options when attempting to decide on a bachelor's or graduate degree, and we applaud your interest in learning about us. Human Relations was founded in 1970 by Dr. George Henderson as a multidisciplinary degree program focused on social justice, equality, diversity, and inclusion principles. The degree has changed slightly since our inception. We continue to teach and believe that our communities, cities, states, and nations can be better places if we examine and confront barriers such as racism, sexism, homophobia, ageism, and xenophobia that prevents individuals and groups from living their fullest selves and lives.
We are proud as a department of our success in getting local, and state governments, public and private school districts, colleges and universities, and employers in the public and private sector to recognize that access and inclusion, social justice, and fair and equitable practices are goals that should be embedded in the policies of their organizations. We have a long-standing relationship with the United States military, providing graduate degrees and certificates for active military personnel and their families. Our online degree present serves students in the United States and globally. We are proud of the interest our degrees have at the global level and it is a testament of how vital human relations degrees is in our current world.
Because of the insistence of the early founders to be multidisciplinary, our faculty are from differing backgrounds and disciplines. This approach has dramatically benefited our students. Our faculty have varied interests, but they are tied back to our social justice, access and belonging pillars. Through classes and internships, our undergraduate and graduate students can find careers that best meet their interest. We offer five graduate degree programs, some of the most sought-after in the state and country.
I am excited that you are taking the first step in learning about the Human Relations degree program, and I hope you reach out to our department advisor for more information.
