Tom Kahle

Ph.D. Student

Tom Kahle is a PhD student whose research interests include federal Indian policy, urban Indigenous communities, and Native American activism in the twentieth century. He received his BA in History and Sociology from Coe College and his MA in History from the University of Oklahoma. His MA thesis examined the 1970 Fort Lawton occupation and its significant yet understated role in the Red Power Movement. His current research concerns Native activism leading up to and after the 1973 Wounded Knee occupation. He is advised by Dr. Warren Metcalf.
