Judith Lewis’ research has focused on the intersection of gender and class in the lives of British aristocratic women. Her most recent book, The Country House at War: A Story of Loss, Reinvention and the Birth of a New Britain is her first exploration of the twentieth-century experience. Previous books include In the Family Way: Childbearing in the British Aristocracy, 1760-1860 and Sacred to Female Patriotism: Gender, Class, and Politics in Late Georgian Britain.
