Travel Award Eligibility and Guidelines
The Department of Health and Exercise Science makes available a limited amount of travel funding for outstanding HES undergraduate and graduate students making strong progress toward degree completion.
Eligibility and Guidelines
- Must be formally declared as a HES major
- Must be in good academic standing and have an OU GPA of 3.00 or better
- Must be enrolled during the semester in which they receive the award, excluding summer
- The application must be submitted at least 30 days prior to travel
- Eligible students can receive one travel award per academic year
- Cannot be used to defray the cost of any study abroad program
- Graduate students may request up to $200 for any academic-related travel
To apply, complete the online application at least 30 days prior to your travel dates. You will receive a decision letter through email no later than 14 days prior to your planned travel.

Departmental Scholarships
All departmental scholarship applications must be received by Dr. Rebecca Larson by February 2, 2024, at 5 p.m.
Scholarships for master's students
G. Michael Simms Scholarship
The Department of Health and Exercise Science will award a $500 merit scholarship to the selected master's student who exhibits excellence in scholarship and significant contributions to the university, department, and profession.

Travis Beck Memorial Scholarship
The Travis Beck Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Dr. Beck and his service to the Department of Health and Exercise Science. Each year a $250 award is given to an eligible master's student currently enrolled in the Department of Health and Exercise Science. Students may apply for the award each year they are eligible and students may receive the award more than once.

This scholarship is to support innovative doctoral student research for candidates who have completed their General Examinations.
