Her essays have appeared in anthologies: Enterprise Zones: Critical Positions on Star Trek (Westview Press, 1996) and Sooner Cinema: Oklahoma Goes to the Movies (46 Star Press, 2009). She is currently working on a book for the University of Illinois Press, The Shock of the Now: Science Fiction, Entertainment and Cultural Critique, which investigates utopian and dystopian elements in selected science-fiction films and television series from the 1980s to the present. Her teaching and research interests include contemporary and classical Hollywood, as well as French cinema. Genres of particular interest include science fiction and the musical. She has previously taught at Nanterre Université Paris X, Washington University in St. Louis, and Indiana University in Bloomington. She has been at OU since the fall of 2005, teaching a wide variety of courses including Introduction to Film & Media Studies, History of Film courses, Writing About Film, French Film, Science Fiction and Cultural Modernity, The Hollywood Musical, and Directors Up Close: Martin Scorsese, John Sayles and the Coen Brothers.
