• Visit thousand years old churches, synagogues, mosques, ancient temples, palaces, cities, monuments as well as some of the most exquisite examples of modern art
• Learn about Italian cuisine, culture, religion, cultural policy and museum controversies
• Discuss current debates on political economy of development 
• We will taste and discuss specific food products in Tuscany, both artisanal and massproduced.
• Gain a first-hand understanding of the role of religion in identity politics and the political economy of state formation
• We will visit cafes, wineries, food producers, food markets, and farms that are of interest for foodies and nutritionists.

ECON 4970: The Political Economy of Food & Italian Cuisine (with Professor Firat Demir) 

• Provide students with a solid background in cultural, political, economic, institutional, and historical issues and challenges in the distribution, production, and consumption of food. 

ECON 3880: Economics of the Art Market (with Professor Georgia Kosmopoulou)

• Study decision making with a focus on application in art and wine auctions and public procurement auctions for infrastructure projects. Visit art galleries, auction houses and museums to discuss art promotion, strategic behavior and reputation.
