Dr. Fanari’s research focuses on the role of communication during cross-cultural transitions among different types of sojourners. She explores how communication can facilitate cross-cultural (re)adaptation, promote health and relational well-being, and improve intercultural relations. Populations she has studied include US students studying abroad, international students studying in the US, religious missionaries, military personnel, and their families. She is a mixed-methods scholar specializing in qualitative research methods.
