Understanding the human body and what are the factors that contribute to the development of disease are the major driving force that made me interested in studying biochemistry. After bachelor degree, I started my master degree and studied the association of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) with colorectal and breast cancer.
Currently I am working in Fornelli Lab on Top-down proteomic to characterize high molecular wight proteins, apolipoprotein. This would enable identifying the various proteoforms of the protein. Proteoforms are different forms of the protein that arises from genetic variation, alternative splicing of mRNA and post-translational modifications of the protein. Understanding the proteoform difference between individual can provide additional information for understanding disease phenotype.
My goal after getting PhD. degree is to continue studying how the combined genetic, epigenetic, and proteomic variations alter the normal function contributing to development and severity of diseases such as cancer. I am also interested in understanding how these variations contribute to different response of individuals to treatments.
