The Status and Reintroduction Potential of Eriocaulon koernickianum (small-headed pipewort) in Oklahoma

Date: 2021 to 2022

Primary Contact: Amy Buthod

Research Location: Norman, Oklahoma

Funding: U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Services

Summary:

This research will attempt to locate populations of Eriocaulon koernickianum based on data from herbarium specimens and observation records from the Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory’s database of rare species occurrences. If populations are located, we will census them to determine whether or not it is prudent to collect seeds for transfer to historical, protected sites, such as the Nature Conservancy’s Boehler Seeps and Sandhills Preserve. Information collected in this study will be added to the Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory’s database of occurrences of rare species and used to re-evaulate the species’ Heritage status rank.
