Summary:
The purpose of this project was to summarize the biology and ecology of the Kiamichi River as part of the State of the Science Report for the Kiamichi River Basin. Dr. Vaughn collected, reviewed and synthesized available government and tribal reports, peer-reviewed literature, and cultural knowledge and understanding of the Kiamichi River Basin related to stream ecology and faunal components of the stream. She identified constraints and opportunities for fully assessing minimum flows within existing constraints related to ecological function of the Kiamichi River. As part of this process, Dr. Vaughn participated in multiple stakeholder meetings as a subject matter expert. As an outgrowth of this project, Dr. Vaughn plans to make the information on the biology and ecology of the Kiamichi River available to the public via a web site that will be hosted by the Oklahoma Biological Survey.
