Severe Weather Awareness Expo

Severe Weather Awareness Expo.

The Severe Weather Awareness Expo is held annually in Oklahoma City at Penn Square Mall and provides visitors the opportunity to interact with local broadcast meteorologists, the National Weather Service, and many other weather-related entities. CIMMS joined the A&GS Outreach Team to connect with weather enthusiasts visiting the Expo, which proved to be a fantastic experience. Great discussions on implementing severe weather safety plans were had, and our team was able to educate and connect the public with the Norman Oklahoma Weather Enterprise.

Lovejoy School District 2020 STEM Festival

STEM Festival 2020: The Exciting World of Meteorology. Presented by Kaitlin Frost.

A&GS Outreach Coordinator Kaitlin Frost and DGES student Cheyanne Reynolds traveled to Allen, Texas to attend Lovejoy's STEM festival (held at the end of February). Kaitlin was invited to be the keynote speaker for their annual festival, where she presented 'The Exciting World of Meteorology'. With Cheyanne's assistance, they were able to engage with middle and high school students interested in the atmospheric and geographic sciences. This was the first time that OU A&GS was invited to participate, and we have been invited back for next year's festival! Thank you to everyone for their hard work in making this a successful event!
