Student Awards & Recognition

The College, its units, and its research and academic partners regularly give out scholarships and awards to deserving undergraduate and graduate students. These awards recognize the hardwork and dedication our students give during their time with the College in their scholarly work, their volunteerism, and their personal growth.

Each semester, award winners are recognized and celebrated at our biannual awards ceremony and at various other ceremonies around campus.

Below are the most recent award winners and a description of the awards themselves.

Dr. Kenneth Crawford was the director of the Oklahoma Climatological Survey for 20 years, co-founder of the Oklahoma Mesonet, professor at OU’s School of Meteorology, and mentor for many students. During his 20-year tenure at OU, he supervised more masters and Ph.D. students than any other faculty at the School of Meteorology. This is in addition to the many undergraduate students that he taught and mentored over the years. He always had a line of students at his door.
Before his passing in 2014, Dr. Crawford expressed a desire for his fund to financially assist students who shared in his passions for synoptic meteorology and measurements. Today, Kenneth Crawford awards carry on his legacy by recognizing outstanding performance and student initiative in these areas.
