Online GIS Admission

Admissions Information

Admission to the University of Oklahoma’s geospatial technologies program is selective. Those interested in the program should have a competitive undergraduate GPA, although GPA is not the only factor that determines admission. Additional admissions factors may include work or service experience, demonstrated leadership potential, exceptional talents or skills, trends, or academic and undergraduate school performance improvement.

To apply for the online geospatial technologies program, students are asked to submit:

  • A completed application (found at https://gograd.ou.edu/apply/) and an application fee of $50
  • Resume
  • Short responses (400 words per question) to three questions
  • Official transcripts from accredited institutions where previous coursework (undergraduate and graduate, if applicable) was completed

Applicants may choose to submit one or more of the following documents to supplement their application, but are not required to:

  • Reference letter(s)
  • A written paper or report from the last three years
  • Portfolio of past GIS work (if applicable)

The admissions committee operates under a rolling admission process, and admissions may continue until one week before classes start. The committee strives to respond to all applicants within two weeks of submitting a completed application.
