Accessible Materials Resources

In addition to attending trainings and consulting with Digital Accessibility Specialists at the ADRC, please refer to the information below for more information to ensure the accessibility of your materials.

• If you have PDF documents, you will need Adobe Acrobat (free to all OU full-time employees) to check and remediate for accessibility.
  • How to Test and Remediate PDFs for Accessibility Using Adobe Acrobat
• Refer to our training videos and documents on the ADRC website
• We understand that some instructors may be using some teaching materials that are standardized across several courses. In these cases, we ask you to work with the coordinator/designer of the course to ensure across-course accessibility by OUs accessibility standards.
• Check the accessibility of all materials. If you are uploading materials (such as Word documents, PowerPoint, or PDFs) to Canvas or other online platform, they must be fully accessible before uploading them. PDF files must be in an accessible, editable text and image format.
• Check Canvas by using the accessibility checker built into Canvas.
  • How do I use the Accessibility Checker in the Rich Content Editor as an instructor? 
• If a student has difficulty you did not anticipate, contact the ADRC immediately
• Accessible Educational Materials Trainings and Presentations: This includes a list of previous, upcoming, and recorded presentations and trainings.

• WebAIM Accessibility Training - Word, PPT, Adobe: This five-week independent study costs $125 (see details about no-cost enrollments) and may result in a certificate of completion.
