My Sooner Legacy...

I hope to leave a legacy marked by intentionality in the wake of my time here at OU. The revolving door of mentorship is powerful, and there is something so special about leaving a legacy through individual relationships. My greatest hope as I leave this place is that those I am leaving would continue to filter through this revolving door, both seeking wisdom and giving it to those who come after.

Why did you choose to attend the University of Oklahoma?

Aside from being Sooner born and Sooner bred, I chose to come to OU because of the intentionality of the students and staff I met along my college search journey. In simple conversations and emails, I felt valued as a whole individual and empowered to pursue every aspect of my interests while in college, not just my academic ones. This made OU unique compared to other schools!

What achievement are your proudest of as an OU student?

On September 7, 2022, around 20 students gathered in a Price College classroom and dreamed of filling Gaylord Memorial Stadium for a night of unity through the avenue of a worship night and concert. Almost eight months later, on April 29, 2023, those same students gathered in the stadium with 20,000 attendees to watch Kari Jobe, Chandler Moore, and Chance the Rapper take the stage for a night of impossible dreams becoming reality. The experience I had serving on the Fill the Stadium student team impacted my life in ways I will never fully understand, and the joy that it brought the OU community will forever be the proudest part of my OU experience.

What has your OU experience been like?

Coming into college, I hoped for a college experience that would fulfill me and guide me toward a better version of myself. Looking back four years later, those expectations were not only met but exceeded in ways I could have never predicted. Whether it be through serving a small group of freshmen, leading a group of tour guests, or initiating simple conversation over a meal in Couch Cafeteria, my time at OU has been marked by extraordinary people in the ordinary moments. The OU Family is a real thing, and it has been the greatest part of my time in Norman.

What does your OU degree mean to you?

My OU degree has been marked by so many who have come before me, whether that be my parents raising me as a Sooner or the mentors I met as soon as I stepped on campus. The same people encouraged me to pursue psychology and a career as a Physician Assistant. To me, my degree is not just my name on a paper, but a culmination of the guidance of others and their unwavering commitment to my success.

Jaci's Next Chapter...

I am moving to Fort Worth, Texas, to attend the University of North Texas Health Science Center's Physician Assistant Students program in the fall.
