As a student, where did you leave your mark on campus?

As a student at the University of Oklahoma, I left my mark by immersing myself in roles that connected me with the heart of campus life and the community. As a campus tour guide, I had the privilege of sharing OU’s story and helping prospective students feel at home. Through participating in clubs and organizing community events, I fostered spaces where students could connect and grow together. Working as a student athletic trainer for the Oklahoma Sooners football team taught me the value of teamwork, dedication, and representing OU on and off the field. Each of these roles allowed me to contribute meaningfully to the campus culture while building relationships that continue to inspire me.

Define the OU family in your own words.

The OU family is all about connection! During my college search, I thought university would simply be four years of studying and preparing for my career. However, the moment I stepped onto OU’s campus, that perspective completely changed. I quickly found friends and fellow students with whom I built meaningful relationships. By joining clubs, participating in organizations, and working campus jobs, I created a supportive community that made OU truly feel like home.

When was the moment you felt the greatest Sooner pride?

The moment I felt the greatest Sooner pride while attending OU was during the 2023 Red River Rivalry game against the University of Texas. As a student athletic trainer for the team, I had the incredible privilege of watching the game live from the field. It was an intense, nail-biting match that came down to the final 17 seconds when we scored the winning touchdown! The energy on the field and in the stands was absolutely electric, and experiencing that as my first OU vs. Texas game made it an unforgettable moment of Sooner pride.

What was the greatest gift you took with you after graduation?

The greatest gifts I took with me after graduating from OU were the experiences I had and the relationships I built along the way. The connections and friendships you form with fellow students, faculty, and staff truly make college an enjoyable and unforgettable journey. As you attend classes and build those relationships, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Take the leap and make the most of your time in college—it may not last forever, but the memories and connections will stay with you for a lifetime!

Reveal one secret about campus.

One of my favorite hidden secrets about campus is the network of tunnels that run beneath the University of Oklahoma. These tunnels have been there for decades and are surrounded by fascinating urban myths and legends. What makes them even more intriguing is that some groups use them to host haunted houses during the Halloween season, adding a unique and spooky twist to the campus experience!

What is your favorite OU tradition?

My favorite OU tradition is the story of the Bizzell Memorial Library Clock Tower, which is said to be cursed! According to the legend, if a student walks underneath the tower on their way to class, they won’t graduate in four years. Even worse, if they walk under it and look up, they won’t graduate from OU at all. It was always entertaining to watch groups of students carefully avoid the tower during passing periods or after late-night study sessions in the library. It’s a fun and quirky tradition that adds a bit of mystery and humor to campus life.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

The most important advice I can give to prospective students is to choose the school that’s the best fit for you. Pursuing higher education is a significant decision and should be approached thoughtfully. As you explore your options and tour different campuses, take the time to envision yourself there—walking to classes, joining clubs, and fully experiencing what the university has to offer. While we sincerely hope that OU becomes your future home, it’s perfectly okay to choose a place where you feel you’ll thrive the most. Your success and happiness should always come first.
