As a student, where did you leave your mark on campus?

I left my mark in OU Athletics where I was a member and captain of the OU Pom squad. I performed and cheered on the sidelines for home and away games and national championship games in football and men’s basketball. I also returned to OU to coach and serve as the Spirit Coordinator for 16 years.

Define the OU Family in your own words.

The OU Family shares common traits of grit and resilience. They support one another in difficult times and celebrate each other’s victories. They strive for excellence in all things and are tied not only by geography, but also by an abiding love for their community.

When was the moment you felt the greatest Sooner pride?

I felt the greatest Sooner pride working alongside students in the Big Event, OU’s most impactful day of community service each year.

What was the greatest gift you took with you after graduation?

The greatest gift that I took with me after graduation was confidence in myself supported by an excellent liberal arts breadth of knowledge. OU prepared me well for my next steps in graduate school and eventually for my career teaching and mentoring students.

Reveal one secret about campus.

It is nice to go eat breakfast or lunch at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course clubhouse grill. Sit on the patio and enjoy some nice weather, scenery, and great food!

What is your favorite OU tradition?

My favorite OU tradition is the Pride taking the field for pre-game at a home football game. It gives me chills every time the drums begin their cadence and the feeling swells as the drum major struts down the field leading the band in our state song, “Oklahoma”!
