I remember the times with the Angolan Student Association, our cultural nights, and participation in the Eve of Nations. I also loved being part of Gaylord College; there were fantastic opportunities. Being involved in Lindsey + Asp provided me with snapshots of what professional life would be like. During my master’s program, I worked with excellent faculty as a graduate teaching assistant and got to interact with many students who did their program online, and I got to meet them during the graduation ceremony in May.
Extended family, welcoming and supportive.
When I defended my master’s thesis! It was a great feeling of accomplishment.
The great friends and colleagues! Even though most of us moved to different cities, we keep in touch. I can still talk to my professors and collaborate on research projects.
The Gaylord computer lab on the second floor, where I could print in color for FREE! And of course, the balcony on the third floor, a.k.a: the best place to be when the weather is nice outside.
The Eve of Nations. It's a spring semester event organized by the International Advisory Committee (IAC). A night full of delicious food and excellent performances from around the world, and a great excuse to dress up.
You cannot get a degree all by yourself. Surrounding yourself with friends, colleagues, and mentors while in college is essential. Make sure you do NOT focus only on academics and get a social life.
