Brenda Jones serves as the Georgia Regional Admissions Counselor on our National Recruitment team. Brenda is based in the Atlanta area and works with students and their families across the state of Georgia. Brenda comes to OU from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota where she served as regional admissions counselor. Brenda worked several years as their Chicago regional before moving to Atlanta in 2020 to recruit in Georgia. Prior to her work at SMU, Brenda worked on the high school counseling side as a College and Career Specialist and as an independent college counselor.

Brenda’s favorite thing about helping families is personalizing the college search and admission process for everyone. She wants the student and family to know that she is personally invested in their specific experience. Brenda is a parent to three and went through the college process with each of her children. She understands the process from both perspectives. 

Your best advice for a high school junior or senior preparing to apply to college:

There are many important factors when looking for a college. My best advice is to connect with your admission counselor. Our job is to work with students navigating the process and we can make the experience less stressful and a lot of fun if you let us help. Give your admission counselor a chance to share all their tips and expertise.
