Petroleum Engineering

What is Petroleum Engineering?

Petroleum engineers are constantly working towards the development and application of new technologies and techniques to improve oil and gas recovery and its impact on the natural world. They are master problem solvers who tackle various challenges such as technology, economics, and politics. Petroleum engineers work to ensure a balance between sustainability, efficiency, and affordability in the production of energy.

OU petroleum engineering has state-of-the-art advanced research facilities that provide students with unparalleled opportunities to experience the future of the oil and gas industry. Students receive a firm foundation in contemporary oil and gas issues, extraction methods, engineering processes, resource development and advanced course work in the three primary petroleum engineering specializations: Drilling Engineering, Production Engineering, and Reservoir Engineering.
