Prior Learning Assessment Exams

Prior Learning Assessments are developed by academic departments on the University of Oklahoma campus for students who have been admitted to OU. Upon satisfactory completion, you are awarded credit for the course from the Office of Records and Registration.

• All PLA exams must be scheduled 72 business hours in advance (excluding weekends or holidays or university closures)
• All PLAs are $125 per credit hour except for AVIA exams which are $75 per credit hour.  
• Exams are administered on:
  • Tuesdays between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.;
  • Wednesdays between Noon and 3 p.m.;
  • Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
• Aviation students must be approved to take AVIA exams before submitting payment through the "Schedule Your Exam" button. 
• College of Business majors are not allowed to take the MGT 3013 or the MKT 3013 PLA exam.
• Exams within ECON, MATH, MGT, and MKT require prior authorizations from the academic department. Students must contact the department(s) at the email below indicating the need for PLA prior authorization to take the respective exam:

Students will need to show proof of prior authorization before sitting for the PLA exam.
